Kids Martial Arts

Martial arts sometimes gets a bad rap. People often erroneously believe that it glorifies violence. They falsely associate it solely with Hollywood kicks and punches. While self-defense is an aspect of it, martial arts goes far beyond that. Not only does it help develop self-confidence and self-esteem, it also builds discipline, a sense of respect for others, and encourages non-violent conflict resolution. Taekwondo teaches socialization skills to diffuse tense situations rather than actively engage in them. Here at Dynamis Academy we teach our students that martial arts is actually the best form of nonviolence around.

Learning Taekwondo can benefit anyone and everyone. Yet it is particularly beneficial for children, especially those who are working through anger, depression, or other difficult issues. Martial arts is a great way for your child to learn compassion for others, to avoid being bullied, and to cope with stress and anxiety. All the while, they’ll be exercising with a group of soon-to-be friends, drastically improving the health of both their bodies and minds.

Our martial arts classes instill creative intellect and a keen ability to focus. The character education lessons we teach help kids unleash their potential...molding them into the great leaders they were meant to be. Dynamis Academy is exceptionally skilled at working with special needs children. We are proud of our track record of never turning a child away and we will continue providing an innovative learning avenue for children with Autism, Down's Syndrome, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, and other learning impairments.

Building confidence helps children who have been bullied feel better about themselves. Martial arts skills make them feel stronger and more able to take a stand. Self-confidence in itself is often the greatest deterrent to bullying. For the bullies, building confidence reduces the bully’s need to seek attention by bullying others.

Learning discipline helps kids who have been bullied manage their feelings so as not to become bullies themselves. For bullies, learning discipline encourages positive behaviors while discouraging negative ones. It provides clear cut rules for acceptable behavior and praises leadership and good decision making.

Learning leadership skills helps children who have been bullied focus on goals and ways to overcome any obstacle, thereby reducing the chances of being bullied in the future. For bullies, learning about leadership teaches them how to listen and work with others, instilling a sense of compassion in the process.

Learning martial arts can benefit anyone and everyone. Yet it is particularly beneficial for children, especially those that are working through difficult developmental issues.

Mastering self-control is a key component of building a disciplined mind. At Dynamis Academy we work one-on-one with students to promote emotional awareness and we provide tools to help children manage negative thoughts and emotions. It is normal to feel down sometimes, it is normal to get sad or angry, but the key idea is to not let that negative emotion control you to do or say things you will later regret.

A good martial arts school has humility at the core of its being. This core value of humility is taught daily at Dynamis Academy and it is a principle that students take with them into adulthood. Having a humble nature quietly catalyzes social change which is critical to our mission of cultivating the next generation of leaders.
